Welcome to Animals at Home (Exmoor and Quantocks) Ltd!

Iain and Kathy live on the edge of Exmoor with their young son; they also share their home with saluki crosses Duke and Sam and working border collie Bob. They live on a smallholding and manage a flock of commercial mule sheep with a few rare breeds for variety.

Iain started the company in 2005 after careers in the RAF and the police service. He is the day to day animal carer and to be skilled and competent in his work he has studied and is certified in canine anatomy, physiology and clinical health as well as animal emergency medical care, first aid and control and handling. He is also qualified in the DEFRA competencies in animal welfare during transport.

He has studied animal behaviour to an advanced level and is vastly experienced in caring for all domestic pets, ponies, horses and hobby animals (sheep, goats, poultry, alpacas etc). His public service experience, efficient military outlook and focus, and his love of animals, all combine to offer the best service possible for you and your animals.

Kathy has had animals all her life; she has a background in commercial livestock, having trained at Seale-Hayne Agricultural College; later working with rare breed sheep and heavy horses as well as farming.
Kathy has vast experience with livestock, animal husbandry and the heritage / tourism industry also. She has previously owned and ran working dogs while shepherding. Kathy provides back up to Iain during busy periods and is lucky enough to work from home which allows guest dogs to stay.

Iain and Kathy find that sharing their home with two rescued dogs is challenging but extremely rewarding: this has given opportunities to learn new techniques over the years establishing trust and security in dogs.
Duke, Sam and Bob are great companions to many regular guest dogs and are happy to give up their beds and share walks with visitors.

Iain and Kathy's West Somerset home has large gardens and a secure two acre field along with 20 further acres of fenced grassland and is surrounded by wooded hills; a great area for walking dogs. It is an ideal home and setting to host care for your dogs.

They also offer the complete range of Animals at Home animal services including equine and smallholding care. The company operates a DEFRA / AHVLS authorised animal ambulance and holds a Type 2 animal movement license. Iain also holds a DEFRA Certificate of Competence in transporting and handling of domestic species of cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, domestic equidae and poultry.

They both look forward to meeting you and offering a second to none service to you and your pets.

"Thank you very much for your help, I couldn't have had Hobbitt without your daytime walks".
