Iain and Kathy live near Taunton with their young son; they also share their home with saluki cross Duke and working border collies Bob and Cap.
They live on a mini-farm and manage a very successful flock of commercial mule sheep and pedigree dorsets, and their son has a small herdwick group.
Iain started the company in 2005 after careers in the military and the civilian police services.
He is the day to day animal carer and has studied and is certified in canine anatomy, physiology and clinical health, as well as animal emergency medical care, control and handling. He is also qualified in the DEFRA competencies in animal welfare during transport. He is able to transport pets for local vet visits or to kennels / catteries, or further afield for home relocation or import / export.
Iain has studied animal behaviour to an advanced level and is vastly experienced in caring for all domestic pets, exotics, plus ponies, horses and hobby animals (sheep, goats, poultry, alpacas etc).
His public service experience, efficient military outlook and focus, and his love of animals, all combine to offer the best service possible for you and your animals.
Kathy has had animals all her life with a background in commercial livestock, having trained at Seale-Hayne Agricultural College; later working in heritage farming with rare breed sheep and heavy horses. Kathy has vast experience with livestock, farming and animal husbandry. She has previously owned and ran working dogs while shepherding.
They offer care services for all animals, from small fluffies, exotics and rabbits and guinea pigs, dog walking, cat care and drop-in visits, through to pet livestock and horse care. They can also offer carefully selected homes for dog boarding in Taunton and West Somerset; the Hosts being fully assessed, trained and insured.
The company operates DEFRA authorised animal ambulances / pet transport vehicles and holds a Type 2 Welfare in Transit animal transport license. Iain also holds a DEFRA Certificate of Competence in transporting and handling of domestic species of cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, domestic equidae and poultry.
They have a small team working with them which allows holiday and day-away cover for Iain and Kathy, so there’s no disruption to the first class services for your animals.
Iain is also the training and support manager for Animals at Home Ltd; offering his experience in the public and private sector training and leadership roles, and his expertise in the animal care and transport in industry to his Animals at Home colleagues throughout the UK.
Both Iain and Kathy look forward to meeting you and offering a second to none service to you and your pets.
